Case study/ Valpak

Harriet Hird

Who are Valpak?

Providing environmental solutions and services to organisations across the UK, Valpak are responsible for one of the UK’s largest and most established battery environmental compliance scheme.

What did they need?

Collections of batteries from city centre collection points including retail stores. Valpak wanted a zero emissions service which could help them reduce the number of diesel vehicles collecting batteries from urban collection points.

How does Zedify help?

We visit all Valpack collection points in Camrbidge, London, and Waltham Forest while we’re out making other collections and deliveries to and from businesses and households. We then bring the batteries back to our microhubs. From there a large vehicle can collect the consolidated batteries, once there are enough, all in one trip.

What are the results?

In 2020, the battery collection scheme diverted 8,000kg of batteries from landfill. 408 collections were made, saving kg of CO2 and contributing to 136 hours of a Living Wage employed rider.

83kg CO2 saved annually
408 collections annually
136 Living Wage employed rider hours annually
