Every day, we are reminded about the climate emergency our planet is facing and the consequences that our society collectively faces. Consumers around the world are wanting to live more sustainably, and companies are starting to respond.

The actions that companies make have significant impacts on the lives of everyone around them. Not just in terms of the services they offer or the jobs they create, but every single member of society is impacted by these decisions. This might sound like an overstatement, but the world is a very interconnected place.

Corporate social responsibility, also known as CSR, is a term that has become more prominent in recent years. In its most basic definition, CSR is the obligation that businesses have to consider how their actions affect society. The fundamental idea underpinning CSR is that businesses have a moral obligation to be good corporate citizens and should not compromise ethical standards to achieve business goals.

In order for a business to act with CSR, it must make a positive contribution to economic, environmental, and social progress. The goal should be to achieve sustainable development by addressing adverse impacts related to the company’s direct and indirect operations. Acting with corporate social responsibility is not compulsory by any means, but it is the right thing to do for both the planet and your business.

There are several reasons why businesses should be motivated to uphold CSR.

Firstly, practicing good CSR is seen as the engine for social sustainability and progress. It is beneficial for your business to be seen making progress at the forefront of the sustainable revolution. Secondly, it is profitable. 77% of consumers are more likely to use brands that are committed to making the world a better place.

Choosing zero-emission deliveries is a simple way to steer your company in a more environmentally friendly direction. Here at Zedify, we are on a mission to make our cities more liveable by reducing the number of diesel vans on the road. Diesel van deliveries are high in carbon emissions, air pollution, noise pollution, and contribute significantly to traffic congestion in urban environments.

Zedify’s delivery service directly prevented 278 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2022. The method of delivery is such a small change for a business to make, but it has such an important impact.

As we all know, higher levels of CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere create a greenhouse effect on the planet, leading to increased rates of global warming. Transport accounts for almost a third of global greenhouse gas emissions every year, so choosing zero emission deliveries means fewer diesel vehicles are on the roads. As a chain reaction, this leads to lower emissions, which ultimately result in less severe impacts from global warming.

Everyone benefits from enhancing environmental health and avoiding the worst effects of climate change. Corporate social responsibility is a new corporate approach that should be taken seriously because it benefits everyone. Zedify is here to make the shift to a more sustainable economic system as simple as possible.
