Welcome to Zedify’s 2023 Impact Report.

Yesterday was Earth Day; a day to reflect on our collective environmental progress, and a chance to recognise how far we still have to go.

Over the course of 2023, we saved 202 tonnes of CO2e (the equivalent of 368 roundtrips to John o’Groats in a petrol SUV) and 426kg of NOX – but we know it’s about more than just the numbers. We recognise that running a truly sustainable operation is a much more rounded process.

In that respect, 2023 has been a year of real progress for us. We started the official roll out of our own cargo trikes incorporating reconditioned batteries, we expanded into new areas of the UK, and we continued to press forward with DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) initiatives across our network. We’ve onboarded some amazing new clients, helping them lower their emissions by processing huge volumes each week for them, but we’ve also continued to support our depot communities by utilising the capabilities of our cargo bike fleets on a voluntary basis; and that’s just scratching the surface of what we’ve been up to.

  • Our new impact report clearly demonstrates why last mile logistics needs to be operating with zero emissions at the tailpipe, but at Zedify we’re going beyond that. Our research and data shows that cargo bikes have a significantly lower co2e per km compared to even the next best alternative, EVs.

But it’s not just about carbon. The use of cargo bikes for urban last mile logistics has a multifaceted impact on cities and people living in them. This year, the report also includes our first ever footprint data and this is enabling us to set a benchmark year, against which we can clearly set priorities for improving our own operations.

At Zedify, we recognise that our work on sustainability will never be ‘done’, neither will it be a perfect journey, but we’re committed to being far reaching and ambitious whilst also being transparent, honest and realistic about achieving our impact goals and doing the right thing

  • Creating measurable change in UK cities is why we founded Zedify and it’s why we continue to push ahead with our mission to roll out the lowest carbon delivery model possible.

Our commitment to zero emission deliveries is crucial in preventing the release of greenhouse gases into our atmosphere and our latest report shows that cargo bikes are an incredibly effective way of doing that. They outperform the next best alternative- EVs- when it comes to CO2e emissions in the last mile and so it’s no surprise that cargo bikes are becoming an increasingly popular delivery option for brands looking to improve their sustainability efforts and do their bit when it comes to the UK reaching net zero.
