New client shoutout

We’ve come to the end of a successful first month’s deliveries for our new client, Pack Fulfilment. We absolutely love Pack’s ethos, and are excited to support them in their mission to make fulfilment more sustainable.

We’re at the early stages of our partnership, so we’ve started off by delivering 50+ parcels a day, Monday through Saturday, across London. As things continue to progress, we’re excited about the possibility of expanding our Pack operation to other Zedify cities such as Manchester, Bristol, Brighton, and beyond. To ensure an end-to-end zero emission service, we’re picking up from Pack’s site in Essex using an electric vehicle, before sorting and routing parcels back from our microhubs across London.

Through working with Pack, we’re proud to be delivering for clients such as Nini Organics (who you may’ve caught on Dragons Den last week), Bold Bean Co, Citizens of Soil, and White Mausu. We’re looking forward to delivering for other innovative and exciting brands as our partnership continues to scale.

Pack’s founder, Alex Saffari, is thrilled with the partnership so far, saying;

  • “Thank you to Pip, Tom and the rest of the team in London for getting us started. Not only do our missions align really well, our clients and their customers love the service levels – which is super important when we introduce a new partnership. I’m excited to add new cities soon and get more parcels delivered by cargo bike!”

We’re excited about what’s to come and as always, are committed to providing an excellent, reliable service. Stay tuned for more updates on the Pack x Zedify journey.

Demystifying the ‘cargo bike delivery’

  • Cargo bikes?
  • Surely they can’t deliver much?
  • And how do they even work?
  • We’ve released an exciting new video campaign to shed some light on things.

The best part about this little project is that everyone in this video is a genuine member of the Zedify team… Special thanks to Marcela, Assistant Manager at Zedify Waltham Forest, Evie, cycle courier at Zedify Waltham Forest, Harry, cycle courier at Zedify Hoxton, and Tom, our Client Success Manager, for their excellent acting skills… Netflix next?

We wanted to create something that demonstrates exactly how a Zedify delivery works – from the point of selecting the right service for you, to us collecting your parcels in our EVs, to the handover at the doorstep to your customer by bike, and all the way back round again.

Cargo bikes allow us to deliver up to 60% faster and more than 90% lower emission than electric vans, and we really do believe this is what the average urban parcel delivery should look like.

  • Our new impact report clearly demonstrates why last mile logistics needs to be operating with zero emissions at the tailpipe, but at Zedify we’re going beyond that. Our research and data shows that cargo bikes have a significantly lower co2e per km compared to even the next best alternative, EVs.

But it’s not just about carbon. The use of cargo bikes for urban last mile logistics has a multifaceted impact on cities and people living in them. This year, the report also includes our first ever footprint data and this is enabling us to set a benchmark year, against which we can clearly set priorities for improving our own operations.

At Zedify, we recognise that our work on sustainability will never be ‘done’, neither will it be a perfect journey, but we’re committed to being far reaching and ambitious whilst also being transparent, honest and realistic about achieving our impact goals and doing the right thing

    Ella Yarrow, Zedify’s Sustainability Manager
  • Choosing Zedify as our local courier has completely transformed our business. Not only is it great from a sustainability standpoint but the service and reliability has been second to none – we know that our boxes will be delivered securely and on time. Their flexibility, responsiveness and friendliness makes them an absolute joy to work with!

    Kate Wyatt, Box Local
  • Working with Zedify has made our delivery service so much smoother and more efficient, and the same-day delivery option means we can get our products to our customers exactly when they need them. They are always happy to accommodate requests and their eco-friendly ethos is aligned with ours, making them the ideal courier for our business.

Francesca Schunemann, The Source Bulk Foods
  • Sustainability is a big topic in wine, and we’re always looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact.

We use sustainable packaging wherever possible, and it was a natural evolution to partner with Zedify Brighton. It means we can offer local customers a premium service, for convenience that doesn’t cost the earth.

    Tina Rose, Brunswick Fine Wines
  • Choosing to deliver through Zedify was one of our first major steps towards our goal of carbon neutrality! We thought we would start local, making sure nearly every Bristol website customer can have their deliveries with zero emissions – can’t think of a company better suited than Zedify to help us get underway

    James Wogan, Wogan Coffee
  • Zedify Brighton is a fantastic delivery service, super friendly and helpful. It’s really important to us that our beans are delivered across Brighton and beyond using zero emissions.

    Diana Palmer, Red Roaster
  • It’s great that we now have an ethical delivery company making our home deliveries- Zedify fits with our whole ethos and we’ve been delighted with the service quality they provide

    Eddie Perez, Pickmans
  • It’s brilliant that our second hand school uniforms can be donated and delivered to families using zero emissions- helping to bring about a truly circular economy.

    The SU Team, Smarter Uniforms
  • We love using Zedify for our local deliveries. Not only can we ship things out the same day but they help to keep the air in Brighton clean and reduce emissions!

    Martain, Barcombe Nurseries
  • Getting fresh, local produce out to our customers using cargo bikes means our deliveries are speedy and better for Bristol’s air

Zedify x EAV x Barclays

We’re chuffed to have been part of a very exciting relaunch of the Barclays Cambridge Eagle Lab, an innovative co-working space set up for climate entrepreneurs. Zedify was founded in Cambridge and continues to operate amongst the fabric of the area, supporting local and national businesses from our depot on the outskirts, so it’s extra exciting to be part of a system that supports sustainable scale-ups here.

The Barclays hub is designed with sustainability in mind in every aspect of the build, with an installation of solar panels across a canopy over the carparking area, designed to work alongside the existing solar photovoltaic (PV) thermal system to generate electricity to supply hot water to the building; and retrofitted building fabrics to ensure adequate insulation.

We worked alongside our partners at EAV and Barclays to design an interactive EV experience inside the hub, which simultaneously provides a very cool place to take a call (see below) whilst educating people on the impact that light electric vehicles can have on a city. The EAV has been branded with information about Zedify’s mission, and all adaptable elements were constructed from recycled materials.

Thanks to all at EAV and Barclays for inviting us to be part of such a fun, exciting opportunity, in the city where it all began for us.

Zedify rides into Tech Nation’s Climate Cohort 2024

Tech Nation has just announced the 24 climate tech companies joining its Climate Programme for 2024, and we were so happy to find out that Zedify made the cut.

We’re grateful to be part of such a brilliant and supportive scheme, and can’t wait to work alongside our peers to revolutionise the way we solve the biggest challenge we face: climate change. Previous alumni of TN’s scheme include other tech-led brands like Revolut, Shazam and Deliveroo, so we feel we’re in good hands here…

A little about Tech Nation, in case you’re not familiar with them:

  • They’re a leading growth platform that supports start ups from seed stage right through to their successful growth, all through a fantastic programme that provides a huge level of support
  • The programme is all about giving businesses the right tools to tackle big challenges, such as: fundraising, winning over the bigger customers, and making a difference to climate policy
  • The programme is supported by founding partner HSBC Innovation Banking

This year, Tech Nation are all about finding solutions in fields like biodiversity, new materials, packaging, buildings, energy, and mobility. That’s where we come in… Our electric cargo bike delivery service is in the spotlight because of its ability to slash carbon emissions by more than 90% when compared to electric vans.

Companies like PES, Seafields, Future Greens, and Adamo Foods are also on the winners list, working on projects like keeping an eye on soil health, using seaweed for carbon removal, vertical farming, and making tasty plant-based meat products. These are all things that closely align with the Zedify mission, so we’re keen to get involved and make an impact together.

That’s it for now, folks.

One more thing… don’t forget to pencil us in for The Delivery Conference in London on February 6th.

Will we see you there? It’s set to be a good one! Catch our CEO and founder Rob King on stage at noon, talking all things last mile. See you at TDC ’24!

Til next month,

Team Zedify

Thanks for your interest in using Zedify. At the moment, we‘re just for businesses and can’t deliver one-off parcels for individuals. Sorry about that.
