London, 8th September 2022: TIER, the world’s largest provider of shared micro-mobility, has started a trial in London to manage it’s e-bike operations with e-cargo bikes, in partnership with Zedify. Currently TIER uses electric vans for all operations activities in the capital. The four-week trial with Zedify will be used to identify how e-cargo bikes can be used to support fleet maintenance and battery swaps in Westminster, City of London and Camden.
The Zedify e-cargo bikes take up less space on the road and are more manoeuvrable, enabling quicker battery swaps that are less disruptive to local traffic. It also makes it easier for operations managers to reach TIER e-bikes in Low-Emission Neighbourhoods and other areas which are inaccessible to cars or vans.
The trial aims to uncover how e-cargo bikes could be used alongside to facilitate battery-swaps and other on-site fixes to reduce the number of van trips necessary to keep TIER’s fleet of e-bikes running.
Alex Berwin, Regional Manager for Greater London, TIER, commented: “This partnership with Zedify is a great opportunity for us to explore new ways to reduce the impact of our operations as part of our ongoing commitment to improving our sustainability. We already operate a zero local emission fleet of electric vans, but with e-cargo bikes we can reduce the number of vans we use, therefore minimising our impact on local traffic, as well as rethinking our approach to operations and supporting local sustainable businesses in London.”
